Gadling reports that the Sacramento airport is about to spend $767,000 on a giant red rabbit sculpture.
Yeah – you read that right. The better part of a million dollars is being spent on a piece of artwork at the airport that won’t be completed until 2011.
Why, you might ask, would that kind of money be spent at an airport for a giant rabbit? Because it’s “art” I suppose. You know – people like art. Of course, $767,000 would pay for a lot of wi-fi Internet too…which I think many travelers would like quite a bit more than a giant red rabbit.
The artist, Lawrence Argent, is making a career out of getting people to drop this kind of cash on giant animals. There is a giant horse at the Denver International Airport, and a giant bear at the Denver Convention Center which he has also convinced people to pay for.
Amazing.

Get your facts straight. Argent did not create the giant horse at the Denver Airport. He did the Giant Bear there…not the blue horse!
