Rome has passed a measure that has gone into effect this weekend (and will stay in effect until October) banning the eating of snacks at many of its famous tourist attractions. So, if you’re heading to the Patheon, for example - leave your sandwich in the hotel…or eat it at the cafe.

Drinks have also been banned…as well as homeless people. Rome has even recently passed a law cracking down on street vendors themselves.

Its all in the name of preserving the history of Rome…and I, for one, think its a good idea. The last thing you want to see when viewing the Colosseum is a hot dog wrapper some jackass threw on the ground wrapped around a column.
