Looking to redefine “frivolous lawsuit”?
Look no further. A man named Yoichi Shimamoto is suing United Airlines because he believes that they served him too much wine, which caused him to lose control and beat his wife.
Yes, that’s right. He’s suing an airline company because he was arrested at a customs checkpoint after striking his wife in the face half a dozen times. Shinamoto and his wife want $100,000 from the airline plus unspecified damages for “pain and suffering”.
United responded to the suit by saying, “We believe that a lawsuit that suggests that we are somehow responsible for the consequences of a passenger’s physical assault on his own wife is without any merit whatsoever.”
