Jerome, Arizona is considered by many to be the scariest ghost town in the United States of America. The old mining town’s center piece of horror is an old “Grand Hotel” that is known for its spooks and spirits.
Guests often report the sounds of groaning and coughing coming from empty rooms, and many have reported dreaming about a nurse walking around the foot of their beds with a clipboard. The reason for that is easily identifiable for those that know the history of the Grand Hotel.
In the early 1900s it was a hospital that served the copper and gold miners that worked the local mines.
The Grand, however, is not the only haunt in the town. There is a spook called “Headless Charlie” that is a copper miner who died during an underground blasting and still drifts around the old tunnels.
It is a popular Halloween destination – and has been dubbed “The Halloween Capital of Arizona”.
