That’s right, The Department of Homeland Security disclosed today that US Customs and Border Protection in US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have the right to confiscate and search a traveler’s laptop or other electronic device WITHOUT ANY SUSPICION OF WRONG DOING.
In other words - for any reason they want, any time they want…and for any “reasonable” AMOUNT of time they want. They can take your iPods, your video and audio tapes and CDS, DVDs, cellphones, flash drives - you name it…they can take it.
They can also share the data that they find with other governments or private entities for translations, decryption or “other reasons”.
BTW - this applies to ANYONE entering the US. Even if you’re already a US citizen.
So…good luck with that.
