It looks like domestic air travel is headed for a small growth this year thanks to the rising costs of airfares.

Research firm Global Insight is estimating a 0.8 percent increase year-over-year in the total number of domestic passenger trips during the second quarter of 2008. There is expected to be a higher increase in international arrivals and visitor spending according to Pacific Business News.

Both leisure and business travel are expected to see the small spike, but but for the full year of 2007, domestic travel is projected to only grow a measly 0.3 percent over 2007.
