Whittier Daily News reports that an agreement signed by the U.S. State Department last year, which allows Chinese tourist groups to get visitor visas for the first time, could have a HUGE impact on Los Angeles, California.
The paper reports that it could lead to 6 million Chinese tourists visiting Los Angeles during the next 10 years. These visitors are expected to spend about $3.6 billion dollars a year visiting the U.S. according to government estimates.
Currently tourism from China is bogged down processing Olympic related documents, but the flood gates are expected to open in October once all of that has been cleared out.
Apparently, the average Chinese visitor spends about $6,000 each time they visit the U.S. – and that’s nothing to sneeze at.
